Bart Smith is the Chief Executive Officer of AVAT, where he oversees the firm's strategy and capital deployment and guides its mission to integrate blockchain technology into institutional treasury management.

Prior to joining Avalanche Treasury Company in September 2025, Bart served as Chief Executive Officer of Susquehanna Crypto, one of the world's largest crypto market makers, DeFi liquidity providers, and early-stage digital asset investors. Under his leadership, the firm scaled its global trading operations and expanded relationships across leading digital asset venues. Previously, he served as Global Head of Digital Asset Strategy at Susquehanna International Group of Companies (SIG), where he led the firm's digital asset initiatives across proprietary trading, direct investments, market making, and counterparty development.

Earlier in his tenure at SIG, Bart led the firm's FICC, ETF, and Portfolio Trading Groups. Prior to SIG, he helped Emerging Global Advisors launch the EGShares family of emerging-market ETFs. He began his career in institutional sales and consulting roles at AllianceBernstein and UBS.
